Kia Ora James,

I’ve been testing the Gen3 Prototypes for the last 3 days and will send them back to you tomorrow.  I’ve focused on my experience when running as this is always the hardest for a headphone.

Feedback
Overall “sound bite”
The Gen 3 are a huge step up in comfort and fit. The overall experience is that i don’t even realise the body of the the unit is behind my ears and i feel like i could wear them all day without issue.  The sound is as good if not better than my Bose over ears with ANC and a solid improvement on my Gen2’s which were already great.

Fit
The new design is better for running, it locks in tighter and doesn’t wobble like the Gen 2’s can sometimes do when off road running.  The redesign of the inner ear gives better ear comfort but the fixed ear bud was a selling point of the GEN2 for me. Mainly as i tend to loose the bud ends or my kids find the head phones a pull them off. I don’t think it would be a deal breaker for me but a spare set of tips would be a selling point for me.

function:
I know you are working on this with the prototypes but I’m not a fan of the long press on the volume button to skip. I used to have the same problem with my Beats by Dre headphones and it used to annoy me. I prefer the skip to be a double press on the play pause button (much easier on the run) and doesn’t require you to hold pressure gains your ear bone (difficult whilst running).

Sound Quality
I like what you have done with the range and amplitude of the frequencies. I no longer need to reduce the bass on my eq and increase the high freq.

You still have solid bass for the up tempo big sound music (that i love from the GEN 2) but have now opened up the headphone quality to  better podcast listening. This is great for the train, and my longer Ultra training runs. The “so what” is that the GEN 3 would now become a closer All you can do headphone rather that just a sports headphone - if i was doing a lunch time run at work I’d only take one set of headphones with me.

Happy to discuss if you require and provide further comments if needed.

Regards
Matt
