This is the first time I have worn an over the earbud. It was very comfortable and after a while I did not really notice them - Martin Gulley review

February 20

Martin is completely new to Earshots, he hasn't tried Gen1 or Gen2 so it was great to read his feedback.  The prototypes have been taking a hammering and aren't water or sweat proof so the connectivity and electronics is starting to get affected.

Report on New earshots

Comfort
This is the first time I have worn an over the earbud. It was very comfortable and after a while I did not really notice them. I wear glasses and they did not bother each other. More comfortable than ipods.

Fit
The fit was good, I found them a little fiddly to get on and off and I hope that it would get easier with time.

Ease of use
The button system is fantastic and it is really easy to locate the 3 buttons. I loved that. Connecting to the blue tooth was problematic as I had 6 eardrop cyan show on my blue tooth. I managed to connect by putting one bud in my ear and holding down the middle button on the other bud until PAIRING came up. But it was not simple and took a bit of time to sort out.

Bluetooth connection
Once connected, it was good. However, when I walked around it would disconnect from my phone and then reconnect. When I put the phone down and walked away it was fine.

Performace
I could compare the earshots with my daughter's iPod pro2, which are meant to be one of the best pods on the market. I spend 3 hours listening to Eric Clapton's acoustic songs over and over again to compare. I use these songs (only two) when purchasing high end over the ear earphones and hifi speakers. The songs have great guitar, piano and drum high hat sounds.

The sounds from the earshots were great, but I did notice some important things which I have put below:

Bass: a nice bass sound and the fit of the buds does make a difference.

Mid-range: This was the singer's or talker's voice. This was strong and stood out which I liked. I noticed that it was louder than the iPods in the mid-range, and that affected the high range.

High range: This was the piano and high hats on the drums. I could hear them clearly on the ipods which picked up sounds that I could not hear on the earshots. I thought it was a quality thing, but when I turned up the earshots, the missing sounds were there just too quiet. Turning up the volume helps bring out these great sounds, but the mid-range was then too loud.

At present, the pods are missing out on some important sounds, and it would be good to remedy this if possible. If it is possible, turn up the high range to pick up those notes. Or another solution may be to lower the volume of the mid-range, and then you could turn up the overall volume, and the high notes would pop out.

Thank you for the experience of using the earshots. They are nice in-the-ear music speakers. I would be keen to see how the ANC works as I am wanting a bud that I can talk on the phone while riding my bike without the wind noise annoying the person on the phone.

The right bud did not work when I got the earshots. By moving the wire connected to the speaker, it would work, but it was problematic and will need repair.

I got caught out as they had to always be on the charger. I did not realise that and did not want to overcharge them and damage the battery. So I did not get to listen to them as much as I could have, as a few times they were flat, and another time the Bluetooth would not connect.

I hope this helps you out. I will send them back tomorrow.

Many thanks
