Welcoming Renee Kroon to the earSHOTS crew

September 14

Check out our latest earSHOTS rider Renee!

Renee grew up in Taranaki, New Zealand and now resides in Christchurch.  An interest in bikes was sparked on the daily commute past the trails in New Plymouth. Like most children in New Zealand, Renee grew up riding packs on the neighbours farm but had never seen proper mountain biking until a few years back.

Renee's biggest achievement is coming 3rd in her first downhill race in the annual “Girls on Dirt” hosted by Gravity Canterbury. She was stoked to not only have given it a go but make the podium too!

Renee caught the riding bug really bad and threw herself into the pursuit of shredding runs on the trails around Christchurch.  In March 2020 a bad crash left her lacking in confidence on the bike and she has spent the past few months rebuilding her confidence on the bike.  This work has involved improving her technical skills and breaking down the mental blocks caused by the crash.   It inspires us hearing how so many riders push through fears and overcome anxiety.

Renee's favourite tunes to charge to is the latest Six60 album, especially their song “The Greatest” when in need of extra motivation. She also loves anything with drum and bass, to help to get in the mood for high intensity riding!
